The SPCA Paws for a Cause on September 11 raised more money than hoped.

“We raised over $7,000 and our goal was $5,000. We had just under 40 participants and about half were youth,” explained branch manager Lindsay Vincent.

The top adult fundraiser was Christina, who won a whale watching trip with Seashore Charters, while the Hughes family was the top family with $566 raised and will receive a City Furniture gift certificate. The top youth was Kaiya, who raised $393, while the runner-up was Marina, who raised $270. Recognition also went to Northern Savings Credit Union, which raised $648.

“I hope everyone enjoyed it and hope to see everyone again next year,” said Vincent.

Event sponsors were the Northern View, Chances, Advantage Printing and Prince Rupert Grain.
