Eighteen neighbourhood stewards took the lead in the Third Annual Rupert Rubbish Round-Up to clear up more than 1,500 kilograms of waste.
There were approximately 70 volunteers in total, said Sarah Dantzer, director of Transition Prince Rupert, who organized the clean up on March 11. She said they also picked up two big wood piles and a pile of bicycles and shopping carts.
For residents who missed this outdoor spring cleaning they can join volunteers with Positive Prince Rupert Civic Pride. On March 18, they will meet at the Fish Hatchery at 12:00 p.m. to pick up trash along Wantage Road. Again, they will meet for Earth Day, on April 22, at the empty lot by the BC Hydro building, next to Highway 16. For more details call 250-600-2696
