The North Coast Women in Business group have scaled back this year, making their monthly meetings less formal and more conversational.

Women looking to discuss with other women on how to juggle one or many roles as a business leader, employee, employer, mother, wife or caretaker can meet at the Prestige Hotel the fourth Wednesday of every month.

The first meeting was on Jan. 25, and had 16 attendees. Ashley Daigle, hotel manager of Prestige, joined the group since it was revamped this year. In 2016, Women in Business lunches required an RSVP and a fee for lunch. This year, it’s a bring-your-own lunch, with complimentary coffee and tea.

“I’ve only been in Prince Rupert for four and a half years and just now I feel that I’m getting to know people,” Daigle said. “This is all about making connections. Sometimes we don’t have time in our busy days to get out and meet people.”

At the first meeting, the women discussed building their support network by drawing more women in for their luncheons, potentially doing some workshops or bringing speakers in.

“One thing I know for myself, is I want to see how other people have a work life balance. How do other women handle being business leaders and fit it all together?” she said.

Daigle said the meetings are small, on a personal level and the next meeting will be Feb. 22 at noon in the Prestige Hotel.
