Don’t let the dogs out. The dog park next to the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre is closing on March 12.
The City of Prince Rupert announced the revitalization of the Doug Kerr Field will begin next week.
In December 2017, city council approved of a petition to restore the baseball field for the minor league. Ralph Weick, the president of the Prince Rupert Minor Softball Association, presented in the Dec. 11 council meeting, arguing that the field is one of the few in Rupert that has the proper dimensions for the league.

In the notice of the dog park closure, the city said the Doug Kerr Field rehab project is included in the 2018 capital budget and will be funded by donations and grants.
The dog park will be relocated to the McKay Street Park, which is expected to be installed this fall. The city requests that dog owners use the designated off-leash section of McClymont Park in the meantime.
