1923 - 2016
The family of Jessie Koughan sadly announces her death on Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. Jessie was born in Prince Rupert in 1923. Her father was a police officer with the Prince Rupert city police, but the family was transferred to Stewart in 1926 with the B.C. Police when they took over the policing of most B.C. municipalities. Later the family was transferred to Ocean Falls, Vernon, and Smithers, and then back to Prince Rupert in 1946. Jessie worked in the Royal Bank for a few years and later in the Credit Union for many years until her retirement. She was predeceased by her husband Bill Koughan in 2000 and is survived by her two sisters, Joan Robinson and Hilda Husoy, two nieces, three nephews, and three stepchildren. Jessie is remembered fondly for her wonderfully cheeky sense of humour. Her family give thanks to the great staff of Acropolis Manor and the hospital for her care over the past four years.
