It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother and uncle, Gary Grimolfson. Gary passed away Thursday, March 2nd, 2017.
Gary was born on September 5th 1952 in Prince Rupert to Ruby and Skapti Grimolfson. Gary was lucky to have three older sisters who treated him like he was one of their dolls and they were always in trouble for spoiling him.
Gary was predeceased by his parents Ruby and Scotty, sister Gladys and nephew Rick Hebb. He is survived by his sons Joel Grimolfson (Courtenay), Kory Grimolfson (Vancouver) and Jim Bryan (Sonja) (Halifax). Grandchildren Marlo, Kaiah and Kobe Grimolfson and Jessie and Devin Bryan. Sisters Gailya (Ed) Wasylik and Judy (Paul) Fraser. Nephews Brian Hebb (Parksville) Scott and Troy Marineau, Brett and Darin Wasylik and nieces Lisa Frew and Denise Wasylik. Gary will also be missed by his ex-wife and mother of Joel and Kory, Sandra Grimolfson and many great nieces and nephews.
Gary loved the sea and the time he spent commercial fishing and was always ready to reminisce about the good old fishing days. He was a talented carpenter and an amazing artist. The days he spent playing drums with numerous local bands were some of the happiest of his life.
A memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life was held at the Lutheran Church, Saturday March 11th.
