With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Doreen on November 26, 2016.
She was born on September 8, 1920 in Rexton NB.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents Alice and Henry O. Stewart, husband Bonar (1981) and eldest son Gary (1972).
Survived by sons Blake (Alison), Bill (Denise), both of Nanaimo and daughter Elaine (Gordie) Hidber of Prince Rupert. Grandchildren Darcy (Jenn), Derek, Megan (Clayton) Hale, Cory, Stephanie (Vaughan) New and Danielle. Great grandchildren Reed and Dean Hale and Braydon and Aliyah Glencross. Doreen is also survived by sister-in-law Ruby (Angus) Reid of Moncton, NB.
Bonar’s career in the air force took the family from coast to coast, settling in Nanaimo in 1965.
Doreen was happiest when she was spending time with family and friends.
The cookie jar was always full and she loved to bake and entertain anyone who dropped by.
Doreen spent the last two years enjoying the lake view at Berwick Retirement Community. The family would like to recognize the professional and loving care of all the staff.
She was loved by anyone who met her and will be greatly missed.
