March 16th, 1950 - April 25th, 2017

It is with deepest sadness that the McKay family announce the loss of Beverly Ann McKay.

On April 25th, 2017, she lost her battle with Dementia, she was 67. Her daughter Tricia McKay and her cousin in law Betty were there holding her shoulders.

Beverly loved and lived life to the fullest. She especially loved to sing, whether it was karaoke, jamming with a live band, or simply letting loose with her daughter Tricia.

Most of Beverly’s life was spent in Prince Rupert before moving to New Westminster in 2002 to attend Douglas College. She spent 32 years at the fish cannery in Prince Rupert and several years in New Westminster as a security guard.

In 2012 Beverly sustained a head injury that brought on Dementia. She spent her final years happily making friends at Carlton Gardens Care Centre.

Thank you to all the friends and family who have been there in this time of grief. Also thank you to the wonderful staff at Carlton Gardens Care Centre for giving Beverly the amazing care she needed.

She is now with her father Alex Piherra, her mother May, and sister Valerie Hagen.

She is survived by her daughter Tricia McKay, Brother Ken Pihera, nephews Rob and Michael Hagen, and her nieces Rachel, Leah, Sapphira and Valerie Hagen.

She was also an honorary aunt and mom to numerous others on her husband Larry’s side, and Tricia’s friends.

She will always be in our hearts, forever with her loved ones.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date. A reminder notice will follow
