Notice of Assistance Under a Partnering Agreement

The City of Prince Rupert is hereby giving notice, in accordance with section 24 of the Community Charter, of its intention to partner with the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BCSPCA), whereby the BCSPCA will provide Animal Services (housing of dogs and cats that come into City custody) on behalf of the City. The Agreement entitles BCSPCA to $29,507.60 annually, starting in 2023, with the contract increasing according to increases to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) each year following. After hours service will be supplied at the discretion of the manager, dependent on staff availability and for an additional fee. Housing of Dangerous Dogs has a provision for additional fees, and adoption, registry and spay/neuter fees will all go to BCSPCA. The Agreement will be effective until December 31st, 2027, with provisions for renewal.
