UPDATE: Highway 16 between Rupert and Terrace is now open

Highway 16 is now open after it was closed in both directions from 13 kilometres east of the Port Edward turnoff to 35 kilometres west of Terrace (83.8 km) due to a high avalanche hazard.

A snowfall warning was previously in effect for the highway. Environment Canada expected 10-15 cm of snowfall on the highway for Tuesday, Feb. 13.
