Grade five band program sees just under 100 students registered in first year

Just under 100 students have registered in a new grade five band program in the Prince Rupert School District.

The board of education’s decision to set aside funds to implement a grade five band program has proven to be a wise one, with enrollment numbers in the program being just under 100 students.

Four local elementary schools are now offering the course including Pineridge and Roosevelt, which both have 19-students enrolled in the program, as well as Lax Kxeen, where 27 students are in the program, and Conrad where 30 students are enrolled.

To support the program, community members with unused musical instruments are asked to donate them to the school district for a tax receipt.
