Prince Rupert Fire Department extinguishes vehicle blaze
The Prince Rupert Fire Department and the RCMP were called up to Rainbow Chrysler shortly after one p.m. on Oct. 31 to extinguish a vehicle fire.
According to Fire Chief Dave Mackenzie, a mechanical failure in the engine compartment of a Jeep parked in the back lot of the dealership caused the fire to start and it quickly spread to the rest of the vehicle. Firefighters received the call at 1:15 p.m. They arrived when the vehicle was still aflame, and were able to quickly extinguish the blaze.
The fire caused significant damage to the engine compartment, the interior, the roof and the body of the vehicle.
