City putting up new civic centre sign to fulfill deal with PepsiCo
If you’ve passed by the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre recently you’ve probably noticed that a new sign is going up next to the McBride Street entrance.
The new civic centre sign has been on the City’s to-do list for a long time. In fact, the money to pay for the $60,000 sign was originally approved by council in 2009, it’s only now that the City has gotten around to building it.
The City is building the sign as part of a deal with the Pepsi Bottling Group, which bought the City the two LED scoreboards that are being used in the Russell Gamble Gymnasium as well as the scoreboard in the ice arena.
The soft drink company has also paid for LED text display to be included on the sign, which will bear the Pepsi logo in return for the new scoreboards.
