Two assaults and marijuana trafficking keep Prince Rupert RCMP busy
Below are some of the cases the Prince Rupert RCMP were working on last week.
October 27, 2011 - a 31 year old male was arrested after assaulting a patron and threatening others at a local liquor establishment. The male was charged with uttering threats and causing a disturbance and held to appear in Prince Rupert Provincial Court the following day where he was released on bail with several conditions.
On the evening of October 28, 2011 members of the Prince Rupert RCMP General Duty, Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section conducted an investigation relating to the trafficking of marihuana in the city's downtown core. A 38 yr old male was taken into custody and later charged for possessing marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. The male was currently out on bail for unrelated matters and he was found to be breaching several conditions of his bail. As such the male was also charged with several counts of breaching those bail conditions. The male was held in custody to appear in court at a later date.
October 28, 2011- Police located a 31 year old male (same male as above in file # 2011-8517) intoxicated and in breach of his bail conditions. This male was taken into custody and later charged with 1 count of escape from lawful custody and four counts of breaching his recognizance of bail. The subject was held in custody and later released on further conditions after appearing in Prince Rupert Provincial Court.
October 31, 2011 - Police responded to a complaint of assault. The investigation determined that a female had been held against her will and assaulted at a Prince Rupert residence. A year 31 year old male was arrested and held in custody facing numerous criminal charges.
