Between March 4 and March 10 the Masset RCMP responded to 29 calls for service.

Between March 4 and March 10 the Masset RCMP responded to 29 calls for service. These calls for service included seven public intoxication/causing disturbance files.

On March 4, Masset RCMP were called to the Trumpeter Apartments in Masset as it was reported that a male was intoxicated and banging on apartment doors. Police attended and located a male who was well-known to police. The male was arrested for causing a disturbance and was lodged in RCMP cells until safe and sober. The male was not on any court ordered conditions so no criminal charges will be sought.

The Masset RCMP have received several complaints recently stemming from comments people have posted on Facebook. In one instance last week comments posted on Facebook escalated into a fight and resulted in property damage. When disputes go this far, the police become involved and criminal charges become a real possibility. Please take a moment and think before posting comments on social media which may be taken out of context, are hurtful, or may cause a conflict. The police are seeing more and more of these types of disputes, and they are easily avoidable.

Please remember, it takes a community to police a community and any suspicious activity can be reported to the Masset RCMP at 250-626-3991 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.bccrimestoppers.com.
