3rd Rampage Charity Golf Scramble a big success despite rain

About 130 groups of golfers came out the Prince Rupert Golf Course on Saturday to take part in the 3rd Annual Golf Scramble; a charity golf tournament held by the Prince Rupert Rampage hockey team to raise money for the local wildlife shelter.

It rained all day on Saturday, but according to the golf course's management, almost none of the groups that scheduled to be part of the tournament dropped out, most of those that did apparently said they had work obligations.

Golfers paid $60 for an 18-hole round of golf and a roast beef buffet after it was all over. The event has managed to raise over $5,000 all of which is going to the Prince Rupert Wildlife Rehab Shelter.

The shelter is run by a dedicated elderly couple, Nancy and Gunther Golina, who take in injured wildlife and nurse them back to health. The shelter is funded entirely out of their own pockets and donations from the community.
