Prince Rupert telecom company, CityWest, has picked a new CEO after months of searching. William R. Craig will be taking over for outgoing CEO Rob Brown on April 18th.

Brown is retiring after working with the company for 37 years.

“Rob started with CityWest as a telephone lineman and made his way to the top through commitment, hard work and perseverance. A lot of what CityWest is today is in no small part thanks to Rob’s contributions. We will all miss Rob and wish him the best in the future,” says chairman of CityWest’s board of directors, Gord Howie, via press release.

The employment background of the incoming CEO, William R. Craig, seems to be primarily, but not exclusively, in television. He was CEO of Bermuda Broadcasting, president of Shift TV inc, president of World on Wireless, a cofounder of Bermuda Cablevision, an executive at Rogers Communications in its early years, and a senior policy analyst for the CRTC.

Craig was even the vice-president of TV and property development for an NHL team, the Pittsburgh Penguins.

According to CityWest, Craig exceeds all the expectations of the hiring board.

The Prince Rupert Northern View was not able to secure an interview with Craig before this story had to go to press.
