People looking to send or receive calls or text messages on their CityWest cell phones will find they are unable to do so this morning.
According to the company there is a cellular outage impacting voice and text in the Prince Rupert area. Northwestel, a partner in the local cellular network, says the disruption is caused by a massive power outage that hit Whitehorse, where the central office is located. Northwestel employees and contractors are working to resolve the issue, but no estimated time for a fix has been released.
While text and voice are unavailable, data including e-mail and web browsing have been restored.
