Prince Rupert is becoming an internationally recognized gateway connecting North America to Asian markets as trade between the regions grows.
Prince Rupert is home to Fairview Container Terminal, the fastest growing container facility in the world, as well as coal exports through Ridley Terminals Inc. and Prince Rupert Grain. There are currently three LNG export terminals being proposed on the North Coast and work is underway on a pellet export terminal paving the way for major growth in the future.
The Northern View is the paper of record for the community, documenting everything from hard news to industrial development to sports to local arts and culture. The newspaper, though, reaches beyond the boundaries of Prince Rupert and acts as a link to the villages of Metlakata, Lax Kw'alaams, Hartley Bay and the majestic islands of Haida Gwaii.
Owned by Black Press, The Northern View started in a small corner office 2006 and has only grown since. Today the staff carry on the tradition of excellence that came with the launch of the paper and have expanded to include a multimedia website, social media through Twitter and Facebook and video journalism through the Northern View Videos Youtube account.
In addition to the weekly Northern View every Wednesday, the team partners with sister papers in Terrace and Kitimat to produce The Northern Connector every Friday.
